English company founded in 1856 by Thomas Burberry who, after being for a long time an apprentice in an important tailors’ shop of the time, he opens his first cloth store in Basingstoke, Hampshire, England. The company becomes very popular in the years after the Second World War by associating indissolubly his brand with the famous beige trench-coat with red and black tartan lining. The garment was commissioned to him directly by the Ministry of the War to be worn by the officers as uniform. The model created, precisely the famous trench-coat, will soon become official uniform of the British Royal Flying Corps in the First World War.
