An American brand of sports shoe founded by Marquis M.Converse who in 1908 founded the Converse Rubber Shoe Company with headquarters in Massachusetts. In 1915 they began producing tennis shoes. But the brand is inextricably linked to All Star, canvas basketball shoes, originally only sold in black. It was the basketball player Charles H. “Chuck” Taylor, who brought the game of basketball to the whole of America , wearing only All Star on his feet. In 1923 his name endorsed the All Star label. All Star were and are the most well-known shoes in America and worldwide. Even outside of the sporting world the brand has taken off. In Hollywood, actors and celebrities have started wearing them in their leisure time when they’re not filming. Youngsters are devoted to them and they have become a symbol of a rebellious generation.
